Tuberculosis (TB) is a treatable disease. Patients who undergo the six-month treatment with proper compliance and guidance by a health professional can live normal lives with minimal risk of spreading the disease to others.
It is unethical and unfair to discriminate previously treated TB patients. The Department of Labor and Employment released Dept. Order No. 73-05 series of 2005: Guidelines for the Implementation of Policy and Program on Tuberculosis Prevention Control in the Workplace. Section C.4.1 elucidated the protection of workers who have or had TB from discrimination.
